Court fines Kyrgyzstani for disseminating false information on social media

Citizen of Kyrgyzstan Asel Tynchtykbek kyzy was fined 20,000 soms for disseminating false information. Photos of the court ruling were published on social media.

According to the document, the Leninsky District Court of Bishkek issued the ruling on October 23. It states that Asel Tynchtykbek kyzy, 34, published a post on September 23 in which she wrote that citizen A.D. Kazakbaeva, while working at school No. 14, was detained on corruption charges and was later appointed director of school No. 13.

During the trial, the defendant stated that she published information taken from the Internet.

Asel Tynchtykbek kyzy was charged under Article 1071 of the Code of Offenses «Defamation and insult contained in the mass media, on an Internet website, or on an Internet website page.» The court fined her 20,000 soms.
