10 billion soms to be allocated for preferential lending to farmers

At least 10 billion soms will be allocated from the budget of Kyrgyzstan for preferential lending to farmers. The First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Nurdin Alisherov announced at a press conference in Bishkek.

«Loans at a preferential rate of 6 percent per annum will be issued to farmers and agricultural producers through state-owned banks as part of Lending to Agro-Industrial Complex project. At least 4.5 billion soms will be issued through RSK and 5.5 billion through Aiyl Bank,» he said.

According to the Deputy Minister, the main idea of the project is to support agriculture through the promotion of the cluster method.

«Nine billion soms are allocated to support the cultivation of nine types of products included in the country’s food security basket, one billion — for leasing of agricultural machinery and breeding animals,» Alisherov said.

He also noted that clusters are formed on a voluntary basis by members of associations of food industry enterprises. Cluster participants are also farmers, suppliers of raw materials and materials, trade and logistics centers, retail chains and others.
