The Supreme Court of Kyrgyzstan declared a tender for production of new type of e-passports illegal, upholding the decision of the first instance court. The Supreme Court of the Kyrgyz Republic informed 24-kg.com news agency.
One of the bidders, Mühlbauer ID Services GmbH, previously filed a lawsuit against the State Registration Service and the State Procurement Department of the Ministry of Finance.
The Bishkek Interdistrict Court declared a decision of the tender committee of the State Registration Service dated February 1, 2019 on the winner for production of new biometric passports for Kyrgyzstan invalid. A Latvian company Garsu Pasaulis CJSC was recognized as a winner as a result of the tender.
The head of the State Registration Service Almaz Mambetov told reporters that the tender results would be canceled.
Obviously, a new tender will have to be announced to start production of new passports.
